Welcome to the desert! There are people here that need the Gospel...

Subject: Welcome to the desert! There are people here that need the Gospel...

Hey yall!

I am glad that you heard back from Giorgio. Those guys and their cigar thing, they make me laugh. Vic’s baby shower that has a funny ring to it, I almost can’t believe it, but it’s true. That’s cool that Vivian speaks two languages. I hope they teach the kids to speak Chinese and English as well. It would be a good advantage for them in the future. I hope as well the hard work ethic will rub off on Vic, he needs it!

Welcome to the military life Chris! It sounds like a blast! I think he will do well as long as he keeps a positive attitude, works hard and is obedient. The kids are growing up fast and so are the old people! Jeff will be 45, how crazy is that! Holla at everyone for me!

I am glad that your health is improving and that you’re seeing results, keep up the good work. If you can send some photos in your next email that would be great so that I can download them and give them to the offices so that they have something for my part in the slide show. They want 5 pictures before the mission, 5 during, and 5 of baptisms. I have the photos during the mission and baptisms but nothing from the life before the mission. Thank you for helping me in this and really all the help I have received in the mission. It has been a great experience for me and you have been a big contributor to that.

As I said I am here in Ventanilla which is a hilly desert about an hour and a half outside of Lima, but it’s panning out well for us because now we know the area a bit more and we have a little help from the members which was needed a whole lot. We will be able to do a whole lot more now, and that takes a load off my shoulders. It goes to show that if we have faith and work, in due time things will work out. It’s crazy to think that my time here is coming to an end. I never thought it would end but all things must come to an end. The only thing that has no end is the family! I am really pumped to work hard so that a lot more families can have their lives blessed by the gospel because this is the work of the lord and I owe him big time and besides that I don’t have time to slack off.

I will bust my butt till the very end just like I did as a bodybuilder! I pray for you guys always and I hope you are doing what you know is right: Read 1 Nephi Ch. 8. It talks about the perseverance. We are in that phase of life right now, persevering till the end of our lives. Keep up the positive attitude, obey the commandments and build the business! Plan for success!

1. Work
2. Family
3. Church
4. Team INA

With diligence eventually it will be:

1. Family
2. Church
3. Team INA

Send a shout out to all my family and friends that I love them and will be seeing them soon!

Love,

Just living the dream!

Subject: Just living the dream!

Hey yall!

Yes I was hoping you could send me a few photos from my childhood and growing up years until just before leaving on the mission. Pick some photos that are good to show how and who I was before the mission. Include a few from my bodybuilding days and I will pick out the coolest pictures from those. I think it would be good if you send them through the email and in the mail on a CD just to be safe.

That's good to hear that James is making a few positive changes in his life. I am proud of him. I knew he could do it. Yeah Camie should feel bad! Just kidding! LOL, I know how it is sometimes, and besides I’m coming home soon! Yeah we will see how things go. I don’t know what is in store for me when it comes to the dating game but I will be doing my fair share of contacts! Justin. There isn’t much I can say there, just that he will learn the hard way sooner or later.

I got the news that I am going to another part on the outskirts of Lima to end the mission. And it’s a hilly desert. The sad news for me is that we have a lot of baptisms scheduled for the next two weekends and I won’t get to see any of them. It goes to show you that you never know what the Lord has in store for you, all you can do is keep on keeping on and be positive. I will keep up the hard work and enthusiasm as always and I know that everything will turn out alright. All I can say is that the Lord has something really great in store for me, whether it be to learn how to be more humble, patient, or to have more faith, whatever it is it’s an opportunity to learn and grow.

I hope you all are doing good and following the commandments and working the business like crazy people so that you too can retire in style! Until next time!

Love you all,

Elder Morton

It was a blast but its back to business!....for 2 months at least!

Hey yall!

Yes it was cool for me to talk to everyone even though the time ran short it was better than nothing! I understood everything; I just had to think about how to say what I wanted in English! How crazy is that?! Don’t worry we all make mistakes but we can change for the better. Keep going to church, the activities, praying often and studying the scriptures and little by little your vision of life will improve. June is the arrival of the old baby and the new baby! The difference is the old baby isn’t the same as he was before and Vic will never be the same as before because he will have to be a father. Ok, I agree, 4:30pm at the Sac airport and straight to the Stake President and home, from there we will see how it goes because I don’t know what kind of condition I will be in when I get home.

As for Justin I can only imagine what he’s thinking and honestly it’s not much of a surprise considering the father figures he’s had. I love Annette but Matt wasn’t the best example and really the only reason she stayed with him for as long as she did was because of the security. There is no other good reason to be more than friends with a guy like him than that. Justin has always had a chip on his shoulder, really an emptiness that he is trying to fill and since he never had a good foundation in the lord he is looking in the world to fill that hole inside. I will talk with him when I get home but really it all depends on him. It’s like James, you can take a horse to the water hole but you can’t make him drink. It’s absolutely the truth. James didn’t have much interest in God until he found a Bible with tapes in a car he was cleaning out. No one can make someone else make good decisions if they don’t want to. Basically Justin is a very confused young man and going into the Army more likely than not won’t be of much help with that confusion. One day he will realize, if he is lucky, that he needs to change for the better and start making good life decisions or he will never will be happy deep down inside. It sounds like the chick is more of a cancer than the cure and if he is smart he will cut off all ties and move on with his life. I have his address and I will right him don’t worry.

I will do the best that I can but I am only one person and the family needs to learn how big boys and girls without me because soon I will be a husband and a father. I won’t always be there for you all; I will need to be there for my family, my career and the church. The good news is that I have learned how to plan a whole lot better so I will make good use of every hour but there are only 24 hours and my plate will be full just like everyone else’s soon.

I love you all and pray for you always. I want nothing but the best for you because I love my family and I will be sharing the gospel with all those who want to see how the gospel really does changes lives for the best. I won’t pressure anyone don’t worry, but I truly believe it’s what the family needs. The gospel of Jesus Christ is what has given me the strength to not only survive these 22 months but grow and change into the man that God needs me to be so that I can be successful at whatever I do in his name.

I love you all and send my love to all the family and friends in the good ole U.S of A!

Working hard and loving it!

Date: Mon, 3 May 2010 11:58:24 -0300
Subject: Working hard and loving it!

Hey yall!

Yes, it’s crazy to think that 22 months have gone by and were going for 23. It’s been crazy for the last two weeks but I am learning a whole lot about stress management! Brandon. He’s another story. At least he’s alright although I don’t agree with what he was doing. I hope he learns from this experience and moves on. DUDE! James will be 40!!!! Is that weird to say or what? When I call I will make time for everyone that is there. As usual I will call Saturday afternoon about 6-7pm as my ¨Pre call¨ to tell you when I will be calling Sunday.

That’s cool about the job offer but I don’t know or remember a Trevor Taylor and I can’t do anything about his offer for two months any way. I plan on working at two gyms and with the time I have left I will go to church and work the business, but for real this time. I have a many goals that I want to accomplish and to accomplish them I have to focus good and hard for about three years and for three years I can put it on cruise control but until then it will be pedal to the medal! I need to make good money to support a family because I plan on getting married in a year and having my first child 9 months after that! The only way I can provide well for them is if I am a Diamond. For me there is no other option. I want to be a good leader in the church as well and if I don’t focus on getting my life together now I will never get it done. I don’t want to be the type of member that always has an excuse as to why they can’t magnify their church calling. These are some of my goals and I will accomplish them if I work hard and trust in the lord.

I am busting my butt and I can truly say that I am receiving a lot of blessings. The lord is putting people in our path that want to listen to our message. We have a good number of baptisms planned for the month of May and I am really pumped because we still have time to challenge more people to be baptized this month. The kid I am training is learning super fast how to teach and contact well and I am really proud of him. I didn’t learn that fast because I was prideful but the good news is that I learned my lesson and now I don’t let my pride get in the way of my progression. If we truly study and learn from the scriptures we can change for the better. I know this to be true because it’s something that I am living. I invite you all to read, pray, and go to church on a weekly basis and when you go, pay attention as apposed to sleeping, you will be blessed and learn a whole lot more!

I love you all and look forward to talking to you soon!

1st Letter From Elder Morton from Lima, Peru, 08.27.08

Hey Mom & Dad,
I have reached my mission home in Lima, Peru and the President and his wife are great!
The Elders are nice & my companion is a good guy from what I hear.
All of your packages made it to the mission home. When I get to my area I will see which ones came. I will write you to confirm. I may or may not email you today but if I can I will. So far so good, I am alive and well.
I am excited to teach the gospel to develop a stronger relationship of Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. It will be hard but I knew that to begin with.
The most important thing is that I concentrate on becoming the best missionary that I can be, so that you all will be blessed spiritually, & temporally, as our faith is tested.
I love you guys and pray for you every day. I know no matter if we work hard with our eyes set on eternal salvation things will work out for the best.
Never give up!
Love,
Rob
