Letter from Elder Robert Morton, 02.09.09

Subject: I'm here in Supe Puerto for another 6 weeks!‏
Date: Monday, 2/09/09 8:44 AM

Hey yall!

Thanks for the boxes I appreciate it. Wow! my birthday is coming up, how crazy is that me of all people on the mission, 26 and yet I have another year to go and I am grateful for this opportunity. I truly believe that when I get back I will be so much more effective with my time and life in general. I was thinking a lot about the business yesterday and I feel as though all the things I am learning here will help me immensely be successful in actually achieving my dream of becoming a diamond, a reality. Speaking of that how’s the business going for the Morton’s and their young guns?

I know that although things haven’t worked out the way you would have liked with all your children but when people live in the world and of the world it is very deceiving, and people get burned, but its not what matters, what matters is what we do after the trial or bad decision that counts.

Yes my companion is a different guy but I learned patience, and how to express myself differently, so all in all it was something I am grateful for because I am a better, more patient man for it. The mission isn’t all about fun, games and baptisms, its about learning. Its about becoming a valiant man of God, someone more like Christ, its about improvement and learning how to obtain success no matter the situation. My comp during this 5 weeks was Elder Ayala from Lima, Peru. I got the changes and my new comp will be Elder Mamani. Its a new elder and another opportunity to learn whatever it is I need to learn from him. I am in Supe Puerto, which an area in Barranca which is an area in our mission called "Norte Chico" because it is a province just out of Lima.

When it comes to the past I know sometimes it's hard to forgive, but as good Christians its a commandments for us to forgive and really its time to forgive Justine and move on because there is nothing hate can do to change or improve what happened.

As I said in my letter that didn't go through to you last week, I think that since Jordan is after all half James she has hope because although James is confused and disappointed about life to this point he has a good heart. What’s up with Justin and Brandon are they doing well? What’s the latest news? Same ole with Vic and them and Annette it seems. Wow! so James is getting a new start on life it seems. That’s really cool and I am happy for him. So things with Rob A are smoothing out. That’s good to hear. Is he working the business? If not tell him that Elder Morton testifies that if he does the rest of his life will improve in all phases if he really plugs in 100% He needs the BDS for his emotional health and the meetings for his social health and the products for his physical health, other than that if he goes to church with you guys that will cover his spiritual health.

That’s a shame with Wally, Jenn, Mike and Sun. they are really cool people. Please give a shout out to the family and Semaj and his fiancé China! I got a letter from Big Joyce and plan on writing her back soon!

Love you all!
Elder Morton

1st Letter From Elder Morton from Lima, Peru, 08.27.08

Hey Mom & Dad,
I have reached my mission home in Lima, Peru and the President and his wife are great!
The Elders are nice & my companion is a good guy from what I hear.
All of your packages made it to the mission home. When I get to my area I will see which ones came. I will write you to confirm. I may or may not email you today but if I can I will. So far so good, I am alive and well.
I am excited to teach the gospel to develop a stronger relationship of Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. It will be hard but I knew that to begin with.
The most important thing is that I concentrate on becoming the best missionary that I can be, so that you all will be blessed spiritually, & temporally, as our faith is tested.
I love you guys and pray for you every day. I know no matter if we work hard with our eyes set on eternal salvation things will work out for the best.
Never give up!
Love,
Rob
