Letter from Elder Robert Morton, 01.26.08

Subject: Earth to Supe Puerto!
Date: Mon, 26 Jan 2009 16:10:03 +0000

Hey Fam!

We have been working it for the past week and are begining to see some positive results from the three weeks of pounding the pavement/ sand. The people here are more catholic than our family was and they aren't even Italian!

Today I had the pleasure of lifting weights for the first time in 7 months! Its cool because it costs $1.50 soles per hour so if I use the gym (which literally is around the corner from us) twice per week its only $3 soles per week! Boy am I weak! My bench plumeted about 100lbs but it's all good.

On a spiritual note we have 4 baptisms scheduled for this saterday so if all goes well we can end this month with 4 baptisms which considering what we had to begin with its a victory for the big guy! My companion reminds me of my brother Jeff so needless to say I am on my best behavior and I pray A LOT!

This is the mission, to adjust to new people, things, and places. I am getting to the point to where I actually like the day to day challenges that we must overcome, not quite there but close. Pray for our investigators they need it because the advesary really works hard on these people leading up to important things such as attending church, and showing up for their baptisms.

So how is the family? Things must be pretty busy because you forgot to write this week. So write me when you can and let me know how everything is going, and I will read it next week.

Love you all and talk to you soon.

Love,

Elder Morton

1st Letter From Elder Morton from Lima, Peru, 08.27.08

Hey Mom & Dad,
I have reached my mission home in Lima, Peru and the President and his wife are great!
The Elders are nice & my companion is a good guy from what I hear.
All of your packages made it to the mission home. When I get to my area I will see which ones came. I will write you to confirm. I may or may not email you today but if I can I will. So far so good, I am alive and well.
I am excited to teach the gospel to develop a stronger relationship of Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. It will be hard but I knew that to begin with.
The most important thing is that I concentrate on becoming the best missionary that I can be, so that you all will be blessed spiritually, & temporally, as our faith is tested.
I love you guys and pray for you every day. I know no matter if we work hard with our eyes set on eternal salvation things will work out for the best.
Never give up!
Love,
Rob
